Magical English

In order to inspire students to want to come to English class, I took an over the top approach to decorating my classroom this year. Students walk through a brick wall (complete with nose smudge) and enter the magical world of Harry Potter.

I chose this theme because it's already popular with many students; they recognize it right away. I was hoping for the "wow" factor on that first day. "Wow, this is super cool!" "Wow, reading is super cool!" "Wow, words have the power to create magic and I get to experience it in English class!"

The room is not quite finished. I'm still in the process of creating posters using Canva that have fit the theme of the room because I couldn't bring myself to ruin the illusion with brightly colored posters outlining the parts of speech. I've finished and hung up a few already, and I've put them up on my teachers pay teachers store if anyone is looking to make their room more magical this year.

Have a little tour and enjoy. As an added bonus, I love being in this room, which is helpful because I'm in it all day!
